Simulations π
The Simulations page lists all the simulations that have been run.
RATIO SIM can provide feasibility analysis for both standalone projects and co-located storage projects. A power plant (i.e., power generation facility) is a component of a co-located storage investment. β‘
Any simulation can operate with zero, one, or more power plants (e.g., in hybrid generation + storage scenarios). Additionally, each simulation requires one storage system and one scenario. π¦

Create Simulation β
You can open the simulation creation screen by clicking the Create button or selecting New Simulation from the Asset bar. The process of creating a simulation consists of three steps:
Description of Simulation π
Simulation Name: The name you want to display for the simulation in the simulations page. This name must be unique. Description: A text box where you can enter a description for the scenario. It can hold up to 140 characters. Select Start Date: The date when the simulation will start. Year: The duration of the simulation in years. π
Asset Selection π
In this step, the active plants, scenarios, and storage systems that match the start date and duration specified in the previous step will be listed. The user can select the assets from this list. If needed, the view function can be used to review asset details during this step.
Overview π
In this final step, a summary of the selected assets is presented. Once reviewed, the simulation can be started by clicking the Create button.
Once the simulation is created, it will appear in the list of running simulations. You can monitor the progress of the simulation in real time and stop it before it finishes, as shown in the image below.

View Result π
This screen displays the results of the selected simulation. Outputs are generally calculated separately for Before Storage, After Storage, and Storage.

The results are categorized under four main headings:
Summary π The Summary tab provides an overview of the key metrics. It includes:
Key Metrics: A quick snapshot of the most important performance indicators.
Comparison Metrics for With vs Without Storage System: A table comparing the performance of the system with and without the storage system.
Annual Energy Flow Chart: A graphical representation of energy flow over the course of a year.
Cash Flow Chart: A chart displaying the cash flow generated by the system. π΅
Finance π° The Finance tab includes detailed financial breakdowns, such as:
Income Breakdown Table: A table showing income segregated by market participation.
Profit and Loss Table: Displayed both in a compact view and broken down yearly.
Cash Flow Table: A detailed cash flow analysis.
Plant, Battery, and BOS Costs: A breakdown of capital expenditures (CAPEX) and operational expenses (OPEX).
EBITDA Chart: A graphical representation of earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization.
Earnings Distribution Chart: A chart analyzing the distribution of revenue sources.
Energy π The Energy tab offers various energy-related charts and graphs:
Battery Life and Cycle Number Chart: Tracks battery life and the number of discharge cycles.
Energy Activity Chart: This graph shows energy activities on a yearly, monthly, daily, and hourly basis.
Energy Activity at Market: This graph shows the energy activities within the market.
Energy Activity Chart and Energy Activity at Market allows detailed examination of energy data, with customizable start date, interval (hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, yearly), and unit of measurement.
Annual Energy Flow Chart: Displays the annual energy flow within the system.
Battery Charging Source Distribution Chart: Shows the distribution of energy sources used for charging the battery.
Battery Discharge Energy Distribution Chart: Analyzes where the discharged energy is utilized.
Analysis π The Analysis tab includes in-depth analyses, such as:
Excess Energy Analysis: Detailed analysis of the energy recovered from curtailment.
Storage Premium Analysis: An analysis of the financial performance of energy sales before and after storage, highlighting the impact of storage on sales prices.
Participation in Ancillary Services Analysis: This table analyzes the annual offered capacity for ancillary services, specifically Secondary Frequency Control (SFC) and Primary Frequency Control (PFC).
