Plant ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ

RATIO SIM โšก can provide feasibility analysis for standalone projects as well as co-located storage projects. A power plant ๐Ÿญ (i.e. power generation facility) is a component of a co-located storage investment.

Any simulation ๐ŸŽ›๏ธ can work with zero, one, or more power plants (for instance, in hybrid generation + storage scenarios ๐Ÿ”‹).

The Plants page lists all plants that can be chosen for a simulation.

Plants Page

Each plant is modeled under six main categories of parameters:

Description ๐Ÿ“

Plant Name: The name you want to display for the plant in the plant list. This name must be unique. Description: A text box where you can enter a description for the plant. It can hold up to 140 characters.

Mechanical Properties โš™๏ธ

Generation Type: The type of generation for the plant. Installed Power: The installed capacity of the plant in MW. Licensed Power: The licensed capacity of the plant in MW.

Grid Actions ๐Ÿ”Œ

Grid Power Outflow Constraint: The limit for power export to the grid in MW. Energy Distribution Fee of Sold Energy: The cost charged for injecting electricity into the grid, measured per megawatt-hour in $. Grid Power Inflow Constraint: The limit for power import from the grid in MW. Energy Distribution Fee of Purchased Energy: The cost charged for withdrawing electricity from the grid, measured per megawatt-hour in $.

Participation in FiT ๐Ÿ’ธ

Feed-in-Tariff Generation: The sale price of the energy generated and sold by the plant during the Feed-in Tariff period, measured in $/MWh. Feed-in-Tariff Generation End Date: The end date of the Feed-in Tariff generation period.

Feed-in-Tariff With Storage: The sale price of the energy generated, stored, and sold by the plant during the Feed-in Tariff period, measured in $/MWh. Feed-in-Tariff With Storage End Date: The end date of the Feed-in Tariff period for the stored energy system.

Generation Local Contribution Amount: The additional amount added to the sale price of energy produced and sold by the plant during the Feed-in Tariff period, measured in $/MWh. Generation Local Contribution End Date: The end date of the local contribution for the Feed-in Tariff period.

Storage Local Contribution Amount: The additional amount added to the sale price of energy produced, stored, and sold by the plant during the Feed-in Tariff period, measured in $/MWh. Storage Local Contribution End Date: The end date of the local contribution for the stored energy system.

Financial Metrics ๐Ÿ“Š

Duration of Pre-Operational Phase: This input indicates the number of years the Power Plant is under construction and cannot operate. It represents the time before the plant starts being productive. Operational Lifespan: After the number of years, the Power Plant is no longer functional and must be decommissioned. Depreciation Years: The number of years over which CAPEX will be amortized in the P&L statement. Full Equity : The project is entirely funded by the owner's capital without any loans. This method avoids interest expenses but requires a higher initial investment. Loan Financing : The project is partially funded through loans, with the remainder covered by equity. This method leverages borrowing to reduce upfront costs but incurs interest expenses over the repayment period. a. Loan-to-CAPEX Ratio (%) : The percentage of the total capital expenditure (CAPEX) financed through a loan. This determines how much of the projectโ€™s cost is covered by borrowing rather than equity. b. Loan Repayment Period (Year) :The duration, in years, over which the loan will be repaid. A longer period results in smaller annual payments but higher total interest. c. Annual Interest Expense ($) :The yearly cost of interest paid on the borrowed loan amount. This value does not include the principal repayment but represents the additional interest accrued for each year of the loan repayment period. Total Power Plant CAPEX: The initial investment cost of the plant in $/MW or $. OPEX per Year: The annual operating expense (OPEX) of the plant in $.
